Rapier Swords

They are basically slender, sharply pointed swords used for thrusting attacks used mainly in Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries. The blade is longer and thinner than the side sword but heavier than the small sword. The Rapiers often had complex hilts designed to protect the hand holding the sword. These hilts eventually gave rise to the Cup Hilt Rapiers.
